Imagine that, a 5-11 team had bad players

Jul 12, 2011, 6:14 PM | Updated: 7:19 pm

It takes a bad team to win just five games in a season, and bad teams are not usually filled with good players.

So, it should really come as no surprise that the Cardinals, according to Grantland.com, had two of the 25 least valuable players in the NFL last season.

Coming in at number 12 was quarterback Derek Anderson.

Anderson’s career rests on a few good games against terrible opposition in 2007, and the only guy with a lower completion percentage over the past five years is JaMarcus Russell.

Ouch. The sad part is most people knew Anderson wasn’t any good, yet the Cardinals still signed him and then gave him the starting QB job.

Then again, Anderson wasn’t even the worst Cardinal on the list. No, that distinction goes to offensive lineman Levi Brown, who was ranked 8th.

The Cardinals had no such luck with Brown, who made it through all 16 games. One comment upon close observation of Brown: “[Brown] struggled with outside rushers all day, which is a problem considering he’s an offensive tackle.”

Yeah, that’s not good. But then again, neither were the Cardinals.
