Bob Hill is reportedly being hired as an assistant coach for the Phoenix Suns according to Yahoo Sports! Adrian Wojnarowski.

Hill has been coaching in the NBA since the 1980s. He has spent time with the New York Knicks, Indiana Pacers, San Antonio Spurs and the Seattle Supersonics.

His last NBA coaching job was in 2006 with the Sonics. He was fired in 2007.

Hill was the last coach in San Antonio before Greg Popovich took over in 1996 after Hill got off to a 3-15 start. He led them to a 62-20 record in the 1994-95 season and a 59-23 record in the 1995-96 season.

He also spent time in Japan, where he started coaching the now-defunct Tokyo Apache in 2010. Hill is known for the time he spent developing former NBA prospect Jeremy Tyler, who spent time in Japan with Hill before he was eligible for the NBA draft.

In his time with the Apache, Hill hired Natalie Nakase as an assistant coach, who went on to become the first female head coach in a Japan men’s league.

Hill’s son, Casey, is currently a head coach for the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA Development League.

The Suns fired Jeff Hornacek Monday and named Earl Watson as the interim head coach.
