Harold Varner incites Cardinals fans, wears Panthers jersey at Waste Management Open

PGA rookie Harold Varner III already broke out the dabs during the Waste Management Phoenix Open’s first round on Thursday, but he took it a step further by inciting local Arizona Cardinals fans during Friday’s second round.

The 26-year-old, who went to college at East Carolina, hit his tee shot at the rowdy 16th hole and immediately put on a Carolina Panthers Cam Newton jersey.

The Panthers beat the Cardinals in the NFC Championship game two weeks ago and based on the fans’ reaction, Arizona fans haven’t gotten over the loss.

Push-ups for the leader, James Hahn

James Hahn led the Waste Management Phoenix Open following his bogey-free, 6-under 65 on Friday as the second round was suspended due to darkness.

Hahn heads to Saturday with a 10-under 132 total at TPC Scottsdale, a one-stroke lead on Rickie Fowler and Danny Lee.

But that 16th hole? It didn’t go so well. Hahn missed the green and immediately dropped to the grass for 10 push-ups of punishment.

Bye, bye 8-iron

Justin Thomas found himself in a wash on the course’s par-5 15th. Situated behind a tree, the only thing he could do was swing. He got himself back on the fairway but at the expense of his 8-iron, which saw its shaft snap when it connected with tree trunk.

We all want birdies
