Giants RB Jennings surprises mother with house

Mar 9, 2016, 12:41 PM

It’s not uncommon to see an athlete take care of their parents once they reach the professional level.

That does not make it any less special, though.

New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings was able to do just that, fulfilling a dream by purchasing a house for his mother.

The gesture came as a surprise to his mom, Debra.

In quotes posted on Giants.com, Jennings explained why he did it.

“She’s just a true giver and she can’t ever put herself first,” Jennings said. “I’ve always said since I was a little kid I was going to buy her a house one day.”

Apparently Jennings bought the house about a month before he gave his mom the house, and in that time customized it so it would be ready for his parents.

The home has some nice features, including a theater room, stone fireplace and walk-in closet.

“I wanted to make it a surprise because my mom is the most special person in my life,” Jennings said. “She’s made so many different sacrifices not only for myself, but for my father and two brothers as well.”

The house was not the only surprise Jennings had in store for his mom, as he set it up so many close friends and family members were inside the house waiting to congratulate her.

For Jennings, who ran for a career-best 863 yards with three touchdowns last season, this is a moment that tops everything else he’s done.

“It’s the most humbling thing I’ve ever done in my entire life,” Jennings said. “It’s like life coming full circle and it’s a testament that if you keep sacrificing and doing the right things, everything will come back to you.”
