Sendek spent nine seasons in Tempe, leading the Sun Devils to a 155-133 overall record along with two appearances in the NCAA Tournament. He was relieved of his duties last year after ASU finished the season 18-16 and was bounced in the second round of the NIT.
Arizona State’s best season under Sendek was his third with the school, as the Sun Devils finished 25-10 overall and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
In all, ASU tallied five 20-win seasons under the coach.
At Santa Clara, Sendek will be taking over a team that went 11-20 overall last season and 7-11 in the WCC, in which the Broncos finished sixth under coach Kerry Keating, their coach of the last nine seasons. The school’s last trip to the NCAA Tournament was in 1996.
Sendek was replaced at Arizona State by Bobby Hurley, under whom the Sun Devils this season finished 15-17 overall and 5-13 in the Pac-12.
