Brad Ziegler is known for his baseball card collection and Mike Oz of Yahoo! Sports had a special treat for the veteran reliever.
Oz had an unopened box of 1991 Donruss baseball cards that were so fresh they still had the Costco sticker on the package.
Ziegler and new Diamondbacks reliever Tyler Clippard each opened a pack of the cards.
“I love the Diamond Kings cards,” Ziegler said of the cards in the video.
“It just makes it a little unique as opposed to just a random photograph taken from a game you don’t even — half the time you can’t even tell what ballpark they are in so the painting cards are unique.”
Ziegler pulled former Arizona Diamondback Jay Bell’s Pittsburgh Pirates card. Bell will always live in Arizona sports lore for scoring the run that won the Diamondbacks the 2001 World Series.
Clippard had a flashback to his days growing up when he revealed a Cecil Fielder card. Clippard played against Cecil’s son Prince in Florida when he was growing up.
