It’s hard to believe 2014 is over.

It seems like just yesterday that the Arizona sports year started with UCF’s 52-42 win over Baylor at the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl in Glendale.

Fittingly, the year ends with the Vizio Fiesta Bowl pitting the Arizona Wildcats and the Boise State Broncos on New Year’s Eve.

We’ve seen our seen of good, bad and ugly locally this year in the sports world. But we’ll focus on the positive.

The staff of Arizona Sports has cast their ballots for the best the state had to offer in 2014. Here’s what they came up with.

Panel voted for first, second and third place in each category. Recipients got five points for a first place vote, three for a second and one for a third.
