Sun Devils continue garnering hype

May 25, 2011, 1:17 AM | Updated: 2:49 am

PHOENIX – The Arizona St. Sun Devils continue to be one of the teams expected for good things in 2011.

SI.com’s Andy Staples ranks ASU 23rd in his preseason rankings.

Despite only going 6-6 and failing to make a bowl game last season, ASU has become one of the media darlings to make a big splash in the upcoming season.

Some are even suggesting ASU is a team that could be a BCS sleeper for the National Championship.

With Brock Osweiler entering his first full season at quarterback, with weapons Gerell Robinson at wide receiver and running back Cameron Marhsall, the Sun Devils could be primed to have an offense that can put up points with the best of the Pac-12.

However, all this praise seems to be getting kind of ridiculous for a team that looked lethargic, undisciplined and unmotivated at times last season.

Still, many seem to think ASU has plenty of talent to compete, so if the Sun Devils don’t live up to some of this hype, coach Dennis Erickson will probably be looking for a new job.
