Taylor speaks out, is anyone listening?

Jun 28, 2011, 5:57 PM | Updated: 7:15 pm

When former ASU receiver Kerry Taylor spoke out against head coach Dennis Erickson, more than a few eyebrows were raised.

After all, it’s rare for a player to publicly blast a head coach, and Taylor’s saying Erickson “is NOT the right man for the job” surely struck a chord with many discontented Sun Devil fans.

But, is this really much ado about nothing?

“When things go badly for players, when things don’t unfold the way that they hope they would, they need to blame somebody,” Ron Wolfley said on Sports 620 KTAR’s Doug and Wolf show. “And instead of looking at themselves, many times they’ll look at their coach.”

That may not be the case with Taylor, as Wolfley said, but either way this is not a big deal.

“When I hear this I yawn,” he said. “I yawn because I’ve seen it over and over and over again in my own life.”
