Sun Devils to face new Utah QB

Oct 4, 2011, 5:06 PM | Updated: 6:07 pm

Injuries are a part of the game. Arizona State certainly
knows that. The Sun Devils have lost seven starters since
the end of last season.

Last Saturday Utah lost its starting quarterback, Jordan
Wynn, to a left shoulder injury. He’s expected to be out
2-3 weeks, meaning he’ll miss this week’s game against
ASU.

“They’re still a good football team,” said head coach
Dennis Erickson.

With Wynn sidelined backup Jon Hays, a junior college
transfer from Division II Nebraska-Omaha, is expected to
get his first career start.

“He’s a pretty good player,” Erickson said. “If you
watched him when he came into the football game when
Jordan went down, he was very athletic. He can run the
football.” Hays in the second half against Washington was
10 of 16 for 156 yards with a touchdown and interception.

“I’m sure,” continued Erickson, “if he’s the quarterback
they’ll do some different things in the running game.”
