The Arizona Diamondbacks placed outfielder Chris Owings on the 15-day disabled list and recalled right-handed pitcher Zack Godley from Triple-A Reno prior to Saturday’s game with the Miami Marlins.
The move is retroactive to June 6 as Owings has been battling plantar fascitis in his left foot.
The 24-year-old Owings is hitting .285 while driving in 18 runs in his third season for the Diamondbacks. He has 10 doubles, four triples, and two home runs while appearing in 54 games this season.
Goodley, 26, will make his 2016 season debut for the Diamondbacks Saturday. He was 4-5 with a 3.61 ERA in 11 starts between Double-A Mobile and Triple-A Reno this season. Godley made his Major League debut last season, going 5-1 with a 3.19 ERA in nine games for the Diamondbacks.
