According to the standings, Arizona State, with a 5-2 (3-1) record is ahead of Arizona, who is 4-3 (1-3).
Not surprisingly, when asked who the best college football team in the state is, Pac-12 Network analyst Glenn Parker did not hesitate with an answer.
“In this state, Arizona,” he told Arizona Sports 620’s Doug and Wolf Wednesday. “Arizona.”
Parker said that may upset Sun Devil fans, but added that one must look at the body of work to really see how good a team is. For ASU, that includes a blowout loss to Oregon at home as well as a not-so-good defeat at the hands of Missouri, along with wins against some lesser teams. While Parker says Todd Graham has done the best job of any of the conference’s new coaches and belongs in the conversation for Pac-12 Coach of the Year, he notes a lot could change over the second half of the season.
“They’ve got a lot of games left,” Parker said.
The Wildcats, on the other hand, have already played most of the Pac-12’s best, getting crushed by Oregon but losing close games to Oregon State and Stanford. They’ve got USC coming up Saturday in Tucson, but after the Trojans do not see a ranked team on the docket.
“Arizona’s capable of winning every one of its last games,” Parker said, before adding: “They’re also capable of losing every one of of their last games.”
