Arizona State football in the middle of youth movement

TEMPE, Ariz. — Two started. Six played. Eight are listed on the depth chart.
And that was just the defense in Week 1.
Add in the offense, and as many as a dozen true freshmen may be called upon to contribute to the Arizona State Sun Devils in 2014.
Too many? Who’s to say?
Call it a youth movement if you want, but it’s showing no signs of slowing down.
After practice Thursday, head coach Todd Graham announced Armand Perry would start at boundary corner this week at New Mexico.
That would mean three true freshmen starting on defense for the 17th-ranked Sun Devils, including lineman Tashon Smallwood and linebacker D.J. Calhoun, who started against Weber State to become just the seventh and eighth true freshman to start in a season opener in program history.
