ASU Sun Devils fall to No. 17 in College Football Playoff rankings

The Arizona State Sun Devils’ fall from grace over the last few weeks is well documented. After rising to No. 6 in the rankings with a 55-31 win over Notre Dame on Nov. 8, the Devils lost two of their final three games, including last Friday’s Territorial Cup game to Arizona.
The Sun Devils dropped to No. 17 in the latest College Football Playoff Rankings.
ASU (9-3) awaits its bowl fate, knowing they have one more game left this season, just not knowing when, where or the opponent.
For the first time ever, there will be a four-team playoff to determine college football’s national champion. The rankings are determined by a 12-member committee comprised of athletic directors (Jeff Long, Barry Alvarez, Pat Haden, Oliver Luck and Dan Radakovich), former coaches (Tyrone Willingham and Tom Osborne), a former conference commissioner (Mike Tranghese), a former reporter (Steve Weiberg) and other heads of state and administrators (Michael C. Gould, Tom Jernstedt and Condoleezza Rice).
