Arizona State reliever Ryan Burr and starting pitcher Ryan Kellogg made the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-America Freshman Team, the organization announced on Monday.
Burr was named to the first team, while Kellogg was added to the second team.
Out of the bullpen, Burr set the freshman school record for saves in a season with 12. He was second on the team with 60 strikeouts and held batters to a team-low .141 average against in only 31 appearances.
Kellogg earned second team honors by becoming the first Sun Devil freshman to begin his career 11-0. He also became the ninth Sun Devil to throw a no-hitter when he shut down then-No. 3 Oregon State in March. If it wasn’t for two fielding errors, Kellogg would have had a perfect game.
A 1-0 loss in regional play to CS Fullerton gave Kellogg a final record of 11-1. He finished with a 3.15 ERA and 54 strikeouts.
