Despite everyone’s best efforts, the #VoteLamb campaign came up short, as Jake Lamb will not be representing the National League at this year’s All-Star Game in San Diego.

Major League Baseball announced Friday afternoon that San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt had won the fan vote to be the final NL All-Star. He beat out the D-backs’ Jake Lamb, the Pirates’ Starling Marte, the Rockies’ Trevor Story and the Brewers’ Ryan Braun for the honor.

Fans were able to vote on Twitter, online and through text messages.

Though Lamb is not an All-Star, the third baseman is certainly putting up worthy numbers this season. Entering play Friday, the 25-year-old is batting .293 with 20 home runs and 61 RBI, with seven triples and an OPS (on base+slugging percentage) of .996.

Lamb’s numbers compare favorably with Belt’s, who is batting .300 with 10 home runs and 46 RBI, with an OPS of .918 entering the weekend.

Due to not making the All-Star team, Lamb is the only player out of 14 qualifiers since 2015 with at least 20 home runs and 60 RBI not to make it to the Mid-Summer Classic. He is the first NL player with those kind of numbers to miss out on the game since Adam Dunn in 2009.
