The right-handed Ogando was designated for assignment by the Atlanta Braves on June 27.
He posted a 2-1 record with a 3.94 ERA through 36 games this season. Before this year, Ogando played with the Texas Rangers from 2010-14 before making a career-high 64 appearances with the Boston Red Sox in 2015.
He adds more depth to the Arizona bullpen that has been inconsistent and also run down due to injury and struggles by the starting pitchers. The acquisition could also provide insurance in the case the Diamondbacks trade any relief pitcher such as Brad Ziegler or Daniel Hudson, who have garnered interest on the trade market.
