The Arizona Diamondbacks optioned pitcher Edwin Escobar to Triple-A Reno on Sunday following their 2-1 series victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The team will make a corresponding move on Tuesday. It’s expected the D-backs will fill the roster spot by recalling pitcher Zack Godley, who is scheduled to make a start Tuesday against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Escobar was recalled following starting pitcher Shelby Miller’s demotion to Reno in order to give Arizona an additional left-handed pitcher out of the bullpen. Escobar made one appearance against the Dodgers on Friday, giving up two earned runs in 0.1 innings. Previously, he had taken two losses in three-plus inning performances out of the bullpen.

A starting pitcher for Triple-A Reno, Escobar is 5-2 with a 5.08 ERA in 11 starts in the minor leagues since Arizona claimed him off waivers on April 29.

The 24-year-old Escobar hit the waiver wire after playing for the Boston Red Sox organization.
