D-backs activate Chris Owings, place Nick Ahmed on DL

The Arizona Diamondbacks have activated Chris Owings (plantar fascilitis) from the 15-day disabled list and placed Nick Ahmed (right hip inpingement) on the 15-day DL.

Owings has been out since June 5 and was batting .285 with two home runs, 18 RBI and eight stolen bases prior to the injury.
He made five rehab starts with Triple-A Reno and was 11-for-18 (.611 average) with a home run and six RBI. He started at shortstop three times and centerfield twice.
The versatile right-handed hitter from will take the roster spot of the injured Ahmed, who has played 90 games for the D-backs this season.
Ahmed, who is known for his defense, has struggled in the field mightily as he’s totaled 10 errors, tied for the 18th most among all MLB players.
He’s struggled at the dish as well, as he carries a .218 batting average to go with a .265 on-base percentage and a .299 slugging percentage.
