Buying out Vermette eases logjam at C where AZ already has Hanzal & Richardson. Frees up space for prospects like Strome & Dvorak.

Vermette was orginally acquired by the Coyotes in February of 2012 in a trade deadline deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He spent four years in the desert, before the Coyotes traded him to Chicago in 2015. Vermette went on to help the Blackhawks to a Stanley Cup title, scoring two huge goals in the Final against Tampa Bay.
The Quebec native then signed back with Arizona in free agency, inking a two-year, $7.5 million pact in July of 2015. He contributed 17-21-38 in 76 games last season.
