Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Robbie Ray was named the National League Player of the Week for the period that ended on Aug. 21.

Ray went 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA in 12 innings in starts against the New York Mets and San Diego Padres. He struck out 18 batters while allowing nine hits and walking just three. Thirteen of those strikeouts came against the Padres on Saturday, and they not only represent a career-high for the 24-year-old, but also the most in a single game by a D-backs pitcher this season.

For the season, Ray is 7-11 with a 4.31 ERA. He has struck out 174 batters in 140 innings, while allowing 147 hits and walking 50.
