Arizona State kicker Zane Gonzalez connected on four field goals and two PATs against UTSA last Friday, and for his efforts he has been named the Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week.
Gonzalez, a senior, connected twice from 54 yards out, and also made good from 45 yards and 26 yards out in the Sun Devils’ 32-28 win.
On his second field goal, Gonzalez broke the Pac-12 record for points in a career, which was previously held by former UCLA kicker Ka’imi Fairbarn. By the end of the game, Gonzalez had pushed the mark to 424.
Gonzalez is the second consecutive Sun Devil to win a weekly conference award, following running back Kalen Ballage, who was named the Offensive Player of the Week last week.
