The Arizona Diamondbacks announced Monday the team has a new player development contract with Double-A Jackson for four years through the 2020 season.

Since 2007 the team has had a partnership with Double-A Mobile.

The Mobile Bay Bears, managed by former D-backs catcher Robby Hammock, have been playing in the Southern League since 1998. Their first affiliation was with the San Diego Padres until 2006, when the D-backs took over.

The Jackson Generals have also been a part of the Southern League since 1998. Like the Bay Bears, they are now going to be on their third MLB link, after being with the Chicago Cubs until 2006 and then the Seattle Mariners for the past ten seasons.

“We are ecstatic for our new partnership with the Jackson Generals,” D-backs Director of Player Devleopment Mike Bell said. “It didn’t take long to know we were a perfect match. We have the same priorities: community, character in people and players, and of course, winning. We are excited to continue the Generals’ winning tradition and look forward to immersing ourselves in the great Jackson community.”

Under the D-backs, Mobile won back-to-back league titles in 2011 and 2012. Five years later, those teams look stacked, with current and former D-backs A.J. Pollock, Paul Goldschmidt, Adam Eaton, Ryan Wheeler, Jarrod Parker, Patrick Corbin, Wade Miley and Tyler Skaggs all being contributors to the 2011 team.
