Las Vegas isn’t betting big on the Phoenix Suns.
Oddsmakers released the preseason over/under for every NBA team on Tuesday, and they set Phoenix’s win total at 26.5 victories, hardly showing the Suns much confidence after a 23-win season in 2015-16.
That is the third-lowest over/under in the league, just ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers (24.5) and Brooklyn Nets (20.5).
The Suns’ odds are lower than other teams like the Philadelphia 76ers, whose over/under is 27.5 wins despite them winning 10 games a season ago.
Of course, Phoenix would expect to take a mightier step forward than three to four wins.
The health of guards Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight, along with that of small forward T.J. Warren, will help to reach those goals. So, too, could the additions of veterans Jared Dudley and Leandro Barbosa, rookies Dragan Bender, Marquese Chriss and Tyler Ulis, and stability coming from first-year head coach Earl Watson.
Golden State leads the NBA with an over/under set at 66.5 wins following its historic 73-9 campaign that followed up a 67-win year in 2014-15.
