Ballage’s injury appeared to occur after his seven-yard reception, his first touch of the game. A visibly upset Ballage was shown having his leg wrapped in ice on the sideline and spent a lengthy amount of time on the trainer’s table.
He would not play again in the first half, but returned in the second half.
Ballage is coming off a dream start to the season. He tied the NCAA record for touchdowns in a game with eight against Texas Tech on only 15 touches in ASU’s second game of the season. While Demario Richard has dominated the touches, Ballage has been Arizona State’s big play back. He’s averaging 6.9 yards per carry and 12.2 yards per reception this season.
Last season, Ballage and Richard combined to rush for over 1,700 yards and 11 touchdowns.
