Arizona quarterback Anu Solomon will miss his third game in a row when the Wildcats visit the UCLA Bruins on Saturday.
Solomon was ruled out of the game on the team’s injury report released Thursday afternoon. So were fullback Jamardre Cobb (knee), linebacker DeAndre’ Miller (ankle), receiver Shawn Poindexter (foot) and noseguard Parker Zellers (knee).
Additionally, running back J.J. Taylor will be out indefinitely. He broke his ankle in Arizona’s 35-28 overtime loss to Washington last weekend, leaving the running back depth chart in great need for starter Nick Wilson to return from an ankle injury. Wilson is listed as questionable.
Safety Tellas Jones is listed as probable to play against the Bruins.
As for Solomon, the news isn’t positive considering he hasn’t played since a season-opening loss to BYU. He was injured the following week of practice.
Solomon was listed as questionable on last week’s injury report.
In his place, sophomore Brandon Dawkins has begun to excel. Last week against No. 9 Washington, he completed 19-of-31 passes for 167 yards with one touchdown and his first interception of the season. He also rushed 13 times for 176 yards and two touchdowns.
Dawkins has passed for 625 yards and completed 61.7 percent of his passes with three touchdowns and one interception through three games. He’s rushed for 391 yards and seven touchdowns at 8.9 yards per carry.
