In this photo taken on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, snow flurries fall as Reno Aces manager Phil Nevin talks to reporters at the Triple-A baseball team's media day at Aces Ballpark in Reno, Nev. Nevin promised to buy everyone at Reno's Pacific Coast League opener against El Paso Thursday night a ticket to a future game if the mercury fails to top 60 degrees at first pitch. With Thursday's high forecast in the mid-50s, he admits he's probably "going to be buying a lot of tickets." (AP Photo/Scott Sonner).

After being passed over in favor of Torey Lovullo as the Arizona Diamondbacks’ new manager, Phil Nevin appears to have already moved on.

Nevin, who has guided the Diamondbacks’ Triple-A team, the Reno Aces, since 2014, reportedly will be the San Francisco Giants’ new third base coach.

As manager of the Aces, Nevin helped guide Reno to an 81-63 record in the Pacific Coast League during his first season and an eventual berth in the PCL championship series. After that season, he interviewed for the open Houston Astros’ manager position, a job that eventually went to former D-backs’ manager A.J. Hinch.

Nevin, 45, was the No. 1 overall pick of the Astros in the 1992 Amateur draft and played for the Triple-A Tucson Toros before making his Major League debut in 1995.

During his 10-year major league career, Nevin spent time playing for the Astros, Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Angeles, San Diego Padres, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Twins.

His best year came in 2001 when he had career highs in home runs (41), RBI (126) and batting average (.306.). He retired at the end of the 2006 season.
