Arizona guard Kadeem Allen was on the sidelines for the Wildcats’ home game against Cal State Bakersfield on Tuesday due to a sprained left knee.

The team said he will be evaluated throughout this week.

Allen injured his knee in the final seconds of Arizona’s 65-63 win against the Michigan State Spartans on Friday in the Armed Forces Classic. After hitting the go-ahead layup with two seconds left, Allen stole the ball and fell onto the scorers table as time expired. Arizona’s training staff looked Allen over after the game as he limped to join his teammates to accept a trophy for the win in Hawaii.

The senior guard played 28 minutes and scored 10 points on 3-of-11 shooting with three steals in the season opener.

Allen was joined by sophomore guard Allonzo Trier on the sidelines. For unspecified reasons, Trier has still not played for the Wildcats in two exhibition games and one regular season contest.

Freshman guard Kobi Simmons, who led the Wildcats with 18 points against Michigan State, started in Allen’s place against Cal State Bakersfield.
