Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer on nerve: ‘When it’s ready it’s ready’

TEMPE, Ariz. — The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Such is Carson Palmer’s rehabilitation process.

Palmer, who has missed the last two games with a nerve injury in his throwing shoulder, was excused from practice Wednesday so he could go see another specialist. At this point, more than three weeks since the injury occurred, he said it was more of a visit to make sure every stone is turned over, to make sure nothing has been missed now that the injury regressed over the bye week.

“Same feedback,” he said. “No structural damage to the shoulder, no surgery, it’s not career-ending, it’s not season-ending. Nothing like that.

“So that was all positive and just going to continue to do the rehab I’ve been doing with our guys and we’re very confident that this thing will wake back up and come back.”

That it is at this point — now — is a disappointment to Palmer, who last week was able to throw the football upwards of 40 yards and felt confident he would be ready for Sunday’s tilt with the Denver Broncos. But even though he wasn’t throwing with a delivery anywhere near his full speed, he said it must have “frustrated the nerve.”
