Arizona State football announced that ten student-athletes from their program were placed onto the Academic All-Pac-12 teams on Wednesday.
Two of the ten Sun Devils that led the way are running back Nick Ralston and quarterback Brady White. Both players were nominated as the only two student-athletes in the conference with a 4.0 grade-point average.
Joining Ralston and White, other Sun Devils to make the All-Pac-12 First team are wide receivers Fred Gammage and Cameron Smith, offensive lineman Stephon McCray and punter Matt Haack. With six of the ten Sun Devils being named to the first team, ASU ties Stanford with the most number of first-team selections.
Four other ASU players earned honorable mention. Long snapper Mitchell Fraboni, linebacker Malik Lawal, linebacker Laiu Moeakiola and wide receiver Tim White each received the honor.
The Sun Devils now have a total of 208 student-athletes that have received All-Pac-12 academic honors, including 34 conference honors under coach Todd Graham. In the Graham era, seven students-athletes made the All-Pac-12 Academic First-Team. In 2015 and 2014, Michael Bercovici and Taylor Kelly each won Scholar Athletes of the Year award, respectively.
In order to be eligible for any of the academic teams, the student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average and must have appeared in at least 50 percent of the team’s games.
