The latest member of Torey Lovullo’s first Arizona Diamondbacks coaching staff was announced Thursday as the club has tabbed Tim Laker to be the assistant hitting coach.
The 47-year-old Laker comes to Arizona after spending 2016 as the hitting coach for the Akron RubberDucks, the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. The previous five seasons were spent in different capacities in the Chicago White Sox organization.
Laker spent parts of 11 seasons in the big leagues from 1992 to 2006 with Montreal, Baltimore, Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh and Cleveland. He was a career .226 hitter (147-for-651) with 11 home runs and 79 RBI.
