The Arizona State Sun Devils’ issues begin and end with their defense, but they could have more problems extending to their offense if they lose their offensive coordinator.
Chip Lindsey, who was brought in last December, is reportedly speaking with Georgia State about their coaching vacancy.
ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg also notes Lindsey is “likely” to be involved in the position at Troy if their head coach leaves, which is a possibility according to his report.
Lindsey has already had ties to head coaching jobs since he took over for Mike Norvell, who went to be the head coach of Memphis. Before he even started his first full season in Tempe, Lindsey’s old school, Southern Miss, reportedly had him as a candidate for their head coaching vacancy. In that report, Lindsey also turned down other head coaching positions at Eastern Kentucky and Louisiana-Monroe.
Lindsey’s offense performed well in his first year, ranking 42nd in passing yards per game in the country (259.3) despite the injury problems at quarterback and starter Manny Wilkins carrying the ball over 128 times.
