Veteran wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Arizona Cardinals’ 24-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8.
Fitzgerald had a season-high seven catches for 160 yards and a touchdown. The score, an 80-yard catch and run, gave the Cardinals a 14-7 lead early in the third quarter.
It was also the longest reception of Fitzgerald’s storied career.
This is the third time Fitzgerald has won the award and all of them followed games against Philadelphia. He won it in Week 10 of 2011 when he burned the Eagles for 13 catches for 146 yards and two touchdowns in a 21-17 win.
In Week 3 of 2012, Fitzgerald did it again, catching nine passes for 114 yards and a touchdown in the Cardinals’ 27-6 triumph.
