Arizona’s Criner getting attention before Senior Bowl

Jan 27, 2012, 8:00 PM | Updated: 8:25 pm

University of Arizona’s Juron Criner isn’t expected to
go very high in the 2012 NFL Draft, but he isn’t being
ruled out as a quality pick after showing what he can do
at practices for the Senior Bowl.

NFL
Network analyst and draft guru Mike Mayock
noticed
the wide receiver at practice and said, “He’s a little
quicker than I thought he’d be at 6-foot-2, 220 pounds.
There could be something there with him.”

As a senior, Criner was a 2011 honorable mention All-Pac
12 selection coming off a season with 75 receptions for
956 yards. Also, he had five 100-yard receiving games
throughout the year. His junior season also saw great
results with 1,233 receiving yards and 11 receiving
touchdowns.

Criner will also play beside Arizona quarterback Nick
Foles on the South squad. If both are paired together on
the field during the game, it will be a good showcase to
display what each can do.

Foles has been regarded as an excellent quarterback
selection in the 2012 NFL Draft being projected to go in
the first or second round. Foles was Arizona’s first
career 10,000-yard passer and threw for 4,334 yards and 28
passing touchdowns.
