Chaparral star spurns Arizona, chooses Notre Dame

Feb 21, 2012, 8:58 PM | Updated: 9:28 pm

They waited, and waited, and waited some more.

After skipping a morning press conference from where he was
supposed to make a decision, Scottsdale Chaparral star
Davonte’ Neal finally announced that he would be attending
Notre Dame next season.

Neal was said to be considering Arizona, as well, along with
Arkansas and North Carolina.

The highly-rated recruit would have been a good get for Rich
Rodriguez in Tucson, as the versatile athlete who starred at
cornerback, receiver and running back in high school would
have been the type of player a coach could build around at a
new school.

However, reports surfaced that Davonte’s dad Luke preferred
Notre Dame, and ultimately that’s where the player ended up.
