Best Arizona Sports Haboobs of 2016

You know the Haboob Blog.
It’s our place to take sports a little less seriously. And in 2016, there was tons to be laughing about despite results that could have been a little better. Often times, laughter helped us get over disappointment, after all.
So to rehash the best bits of comedy throughout sport in the Valley of the Sun, we give you our own list of the best Arizona Sports Haboobs of the past year.
Dramatic Arians
Bruce Arians became the greatest Cardinals meme of all time. That’s a fact when they’re splicing GIFs of him next to clips of surprised hamsters, cats, dogs and ferrets.
Down goes Wolf
Larry Fitzgerald decided he would tackle Ron Wolfley, multiple times. Who knew Tapping into the Rage Tree makes one yell “timber!”?
Feuding Badger
Tyrann Mathieu appeared on Family Feud and answered kind of private questions with the confidence of a Honey Badger.
So bad, it’s funny
Sweat much?
On the biggest of stages, we learn Arizona head coach Sean Miller never heard the rule about not wearing white in a rainstorm.
What do we call him?
The Lawnmower. The Combine. Craig. Giving David Johnson a nickname to describe his incredible abilities went far less well than ESPN planned. Off topic: Is this the first mention of The Humble Rumble?
Curtain of abs
Swimmer Michael Phelps joined Arizona State’s Curtain of Distraction. Abs.
Grieving through laughter
The Crying Jordan meme has been going strong. It made us laugh a little bit after the Cardinals’ disappointing loss to the Panthers.
Apprehensive bus driver
Does Zack Greinke like fun? Hard to say, but we know he’ll drive the bus to please his teammates.
You had one job
Two words: Eric. Beldsoe.
Teammate trucking
Larry Fitzgerald showed no remorse after taking out his own teammate, offensive lineman Earl Watford.
Diving draft
Scooby Wright knows how to celebrate being drafted, even if it was by the one-win Cleveland Browns. Well, he did cry at first before realizing his future in Cleveland wouldn’t last long.
Ha. Ha. Headlines
Are you 12 years old? Fan of Austin Powers movies? Then you can write headlines for the New York Daily News and crack jokes about Jeff Hornacek’s last name.
Romantic with a sandwich
Subjectively, the most low-key Haboob of the year was Cardinals CB Justin Bethel filming a series of Instagram videos where he gets a little too romantic with PB&J sandwiches.
Make a tackle, miss
Not many people tackled Arizona quarterback Brandon Dawkins in the Territorial Cup. Miss Arizona was an exception.
