Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt will be playing for the United States in the World Baseball Classic according to FOX Sports’ Jon Morosi.

Goldschmidt has made the National League All-Star team four straight seasons since his 2013 breakout year when he had 36 home runs and 125 RBI while hitting .302.

It will be Goldschmidt’s first time playing in the tournament.

Players already on the roster according to Morosi include Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen and San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey.

Six position player spots are left on the team. Goldschmidt and Washington Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy will reportedly take two of them.

Notable past participants from the D-backs organization in the tournament include Gerardo Parra for Venezuela in 2009 and 2013 and Willie Bloomquist for the United States in 2013.

Team USA’s first game of group play is on March 10 in Miami against Colombia. The Dominican Republic and Canada are the two other teams in Group C with the U.S.
