The Arizona Cardinals could have quite a few needs by the time April rolls around.
By then, Larry Fitzgerald just might know if he’ll play in 2017. Arizona will be nearly two months removed from the start of free agency. With 20-some free agents to consider this offseason, there could be a bit of turnover by the time the NFL Draft rolls around.
The Cardinals will only be able to address one thing in the first round of the draft, but now they know where they will be picking. Arizona’s 7-8-1 season locked it into the 13th overall pick in the draft.
The Cleveland Browns locked up the first overall pick with a 1-15 season. San Francisco, which will be under a new general manager and coach, will select second.
Chicago, Jacksonville, Tennessee (via Los Angeles), the New York Jets, San Diego, Carolina, Cincinnati and Buffalo round out the first 10 picks, in that order. New Orleans and Cleveland (via Philadelphia) will draft immediately ahead of the Cardinals.
Arizona’s spot at No. 13 is just ahead of three teams drafting after 8-8 seasons: Indianapolis, Philadelphia (via Minnesota) and Baltimore. The Colts and Eagles, immediately behind the Cardinals, will draft in order depending on a coin-flip tiebreak.
