Rumors have Arizona’s Sean Miller seriously considering Maryland job

Is Maryland better than Arizona in November? It might be for one college basketball coach.

Thanks to Gary Williams’ retirement Maryland is searching for its first new basketball coach in 22-years. Rumors are flying around about who will replace the legendary coach, with all signs beginning to point directly at the University of Arizona’s Sean Miller.

According to the Washington Post, there is interest on both ends to get a deal done.

According to individuals with connections either to the school or the coach, there is mutual interest between Maryland and Miller. Two of the individuals said they had been told by athletic department employees that Anderson was expected to travel following Williams’s ceremony to speak with Miller about the opening.

Would Miller really leave Arizona after breathing new life into the program with a trip to the elite eight? As the old adage goes, ‘money talks’, and according to reports it sounds like Maryland is willing to throw plenty of Miller’s way.

Arizona fans shouldn’t get too concerned though, because at least one high profile college basketball analyst doesn’t seem to think Miller will leave the Old Pueblo.

Is Miller using it as leverage to get a better contract or more for his staff at Arizona? He wouldn’t be the first to use the tactic.

What would be surprising is if he turned in the 60 degree and sunny weather in Tucson during the winter for the snow and freezing temperature of Maryland. Then again, millions of dollars can buy a lot of blankets and heating oil.
