ESPN coming to Tucson for Arizona basketball

Aug 11, 2011, 6:32 PM | Updated: 7:45 pm

The last time the Arizona and Washington played was in the Pac-10 Championship game, when the Huskies won 77-75 in overtime.

The time before that the teams met at the McKale Center in Tucson and the Wildcats, thanks to a last-second block by Derrick Williams, escaped with an 87-86 victory.

The teams combined for a couple of college basketball’s better games last season and, with both expected to be among the Pac-12’s best again next season, will likely do so again.

That is why ESPN will bring College Basketball GameDay to the Old Pueblo on January 28th, when the teams meet for the first time since the Pac-10 Tournament Championship.

Tucson will be one of eight sites for College Basketball GameDay during the 2011-12 season.
