Meghan Johnson, wife of Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson, gave birth to the couple’s first child late Saturday morning.
David Johnson announced the birth of David Jerome Johnson Jr. on Saturday night.

David Jr. came earlier than expected. Meghan was scheduled to give birth closer to the Pro Bowl, which will be played on Jan. 29 in Orlando. That threatened the new father’s expected first appearance in the game, but Johnson’s Week 17 MCL injury against the Los Angeles Rams ended his hopes of playing in it.
So proud/grateful of @meghantjohnson whos been incredible thruout this life changing moment. Truly a blessing to David Jr and I #Superwoman pic.twitter.com/cKDWvpJspr

Johnson put together a stellar 2016 campaign with 15 straight games of 100 or more yards from scrimmage, tying an NFL record. He amassed 1,239 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground to go with 879 receiving yards and four more scores in his second NFL season.
As for the knee injury that put a scare into the Cardinals to end a disappointing 7-8-1 season, Johnson did not require surgery and from the injury on Jan. 1 should be back in action within six to eight weeks.
