If you’ve ever wondered what the experience of choosing your new workplace via video game simulation is like, Arizona Cardinals safety Tony Jefferson may be able to help.
Appearing in a video for TMZ Sports, the free agent safety said he’s jumped into the Madden NFL video games and edited himself to see what he looks like in different uniforms.
Jefferson, out of the University of Oklahoma, signed with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2013. In the past four seasons, he has missed only one regular season game. In 2016, Jefferson made 14 starts and recorded a career-high 96 tackles along with two sacks and five passes defensed. He went to IR in December with an MCL sprain.
While he seems to be thinking about his options and will be a hot commodity on the open market, Cardinals fans may not have much to worry about. Jefferson said on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM’s Burns & Gambo earlier in January that both sides have interest in keeping him with the Cards.
“Obviously I want to be here, they want me back, so we’ll try to do what we can do,” he said. “The worst part about the great NFL is the business side, so you’ve got to let that stuff play out how it goes. But I think the interest between each of us is obviously mutual — this is pretty much my home.”
Jefferson reaffirmed that commitment to TMZ, saying that he’s “still in red and white right now.”
