LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Chelsea Gardner had 22 points and eight rebounds, and Kansas beat No. 10 California 62-39 on Sunday.
Reserve Asia Boyd scored 13 points for the Jayhawks (7-2), who went 7 for 11 from 3-point range. Lauren Aldridge had 11 points and five assists.
California (7-1) lost starting forward Courtney Range to an apparent left knee injury in the second half. She had to be carried off the court by assistant coach Jeff Cammon.
Brittany Boyd had 12 points and five steals for the Bears, who shot 18 percent (6 for 33) in the second half. Reshanda Gray finished with 11 points.
Kansas closed the first half with a 12-2 run to open a 36-20 lead. Natalie Knight and Asia Boyd each made a 3 during the spurt.
Gardner scored and Terriell Bradley made two free throws to make it 50-30 with 8:40 left.
California shot 24.2 percent (15 for 62) for the game. It also lost the rebounding battle, 45-30.
Kansas: Gardner was 7 for 17 from the field and 8 for 8 at the line. … The Jayhawks were coming off a 68-46 win over Incarnate Word.
California: Brittany Boyd fouled out with 4 1/2 minutes left.
Kansas visits Purdue on Thursday.
California travels to Long Beach State on Saturday.
