Cardinals Corner podcast: Who blinks first, Kyler Murray or Arizona?
Apr 18, 2022, 11:54 AM
It had been 36 days since the last social media unscrubbing, report or speculation surrounding Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.
On Thursday, however, those days were erased back to zero after Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro confirmed that Murray’s agent, Erik Burkhardt, pulled their opening contract extension proposal weeks ago.
MMQB’s Albert Breer followed up by pegging the 2022 NFL Draft as the deadline for a new extension.
And with the draft less than two weeks away, time is ticking.
That begs the question: Which side blinks first? Murray and his agent or the Cardinals?
In other contract-related Cardinals news, Arizona is officially running it back with wide receiver A.J. Green on a one-year deal worth a reported $3 million.
Despite the optics of Arizona’s loss to the Green Bay Packers and the regression during the back half of the season, Green still finished with 848 yards and three touchdowns on 54 receptions (92 targets).
On top of that, head coach Kliff Kingsbury admitted his failings in game planning for Green better, especially after No. 1 option DeAndre Hopkins was on the shelf due to injury.
What does the Green signing mean in terms of the roster construction and how might that impact the team’s draft strategy?
Cardinals reporter Tyler Drake and Erik Ruby break it all down on the latest episode of Cardinals Corner, an Arizona Sports podcast.
