Cardinals’ Kyler Murray to donate Snickers ‘Hungriest Player’ chain

Feb 1, 2021, 1:39 PM

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is making the most of his recent accolade.

After securing the 2021 Pro Bowl MVP over the weekend, the second-year signal caller added another honor to his resume Monday: Snickers Hungriest Player of the Year.

The best part of it all, though? Murray is donating the $60,000 chain that comes with the award to Arizona frontline workers, Snickers announced.

But before he parts with the bling, Murray is making the rounds with it one last time.

“Right now it’s just chilling on my neck,” Murray said Monday while on with the Pat McAfee Show. “It’s weighing me down a little bit.”

Over the course of 14 weeks, the Hungriest Player program rewarded players “who showed a hunger for more with exceptional plays or moments on the field.”

The weekly winners were given a jewel-encrusted chain with the word “Hungry” on it.

Murray was bestowed the honor of Hungriest Player — along with the $60,000 chain — in his Week 10 showing against the Buffalo Bills.

The QB totaled three scores and 306 yards in the 32-30 victory over the Bills, but it was the final touchdown that left the nation buzzing.

With 11 seconds to play and down 30-26, Murray and the offense had one last shot to make something happen for their own 48-yard line. Luckily, the team had All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins on the other end.

Heaving up a prayer, Murray launched the football in the general vicinity of Hopkins, whose massive black gloves reached out above a sea of Bills defenders for the game-sealing score. Just like that, the Hail Murray was born.
