D-backs’ Stephen Vogt, family make donation to Ronald McDonald House

Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Stephen Vogt continued an awesome tradition in his first season with the team.

No, it’s doesn’t revolve around homers or games played, but what the catcher has done off the diamond.

Vogt, his wife Alyssa and their three children, Clark, Bennett and Payton made a hefty toy donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central and Northern Phoenix.

“Thankful for the opportunity to visit!” Vogt said in a tweet Wednesday. “We appreciate all you do and are happy to support such a worthy cause.”

Vogt has donated in each of the five cities he has played in, including last season as a member of the San Francisco Giants. As a family, this is the fourth House they have visited together.

It’s more than just a donation for the Vogt family.

“As a child, Alyssa and her family stayed at the [Ronald McDonald House] in Washington while her brother underwent cancer treatment,” RMHC said in a tweet Wednesday.

RMHC has three locations in the Valley — two in Phoenix and one in Mesa — and has been serving families with children facing medical challenges for 35 years.
