Tyrann Mathieu donates $1 million to LSU football program

Nov 5, 2016, 6:02 PM | Updated: Nov 7, 2016, 11:23 am

As he has done in the past, Arizona Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu followed in the footsteps of his teammate cornerback Patrick Peterson Saturday.

Peterson donated $1 million to his alma mater Louisiana State University’s football program last season, and Mathieu has done the same this year.

During the first quarter of the big matchup between Alabama and LSU, Mathieu went on the field with the Tiger Athletic Foundation to donate his check, which will go towards improving LSU’s Football Operations Center and a scholarship.

Peterson and Mathieu were honorary captains, and as expected, received loud ovations from the crowd.

Mathieu and Peterson were both present when LSU’s team arrived at the stadium to greet the players as they walked in. The heralded jersey No. 7 worn in the past by Peterson and Mathieu is now worn by star running back Leonard Fournette, and the three caught up and took pictures together.

In an unsurprising act that has to make Cardinals fans smile, Peterson exits video of the walk by pulling a player aside to talk about the game.
