Msholo the Zoo Atlanta elephant picks ASU to pull the Peach Bowl upset over Texas

Msholo, an African elephant at Zoo Atlanta, has picked ASU to pull the upset over the Longhorns in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal game on Jan. 1.
“We’re trying to turn him into a sports fan, so we’re letting him make his first pick today for the game,” said Kenn Harwood, the Zoo Atlanta’s curator of mammals.
Msholo, whose name is pronounced like if you put a “mi-” in front of the Arizona town of Show Low, picked the maroon and gold pitchforked box over the burnt orange Longhorn option before the game that will be held at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The cardboard boxes were both filled with hay and “treats,” according to Harwood.
“Both boxes were identical, so there was nothing shady going on,” the curator added. “We didn’t have anything to do with it. He picked it all by himself.”
Indeed, this is not your classic 35-year-old male betting on FanDuel. It’s a mildly risky bet for the Peach Bowl showdown between Arizona State and Texas.
The Sun Devils are 13.5-point underdogs and go in with a moneyline at +400 to win, according to the FanDuel Sportsbook.
This is more bad animal news for Texas’ Peach Bowl hopes against ASU
Msholo’s favoring of ASU follows the Longhorns getting the news that they would not have the support of their own live mascot at the game.
Bevo, a 1,700-pound bull, cannot attend the game due to space limitations on the Mercedes-Benz Stadium sidelines.
