Arizona Diamondbacks rookie Corbin Carroll was surprisingly not showing up for the moment through six games of the National League Championship Series.
But he showed up for the biggest one in Game 7 to help the D-backs beat Philadelphia 4-2 on Tuesday to reach their first World Series since 2001.
Carroll hit three singles in his first three at-bats and recorded a sac-fly RBI with his fourth that gave Arizona a 4-2 lead in the top of the seventh inning. His third hit was an RBI to tie the game 2-2 in the top of the fifth inning.

Carroll later stole second base and scored on an RBI single by Gabriel Moreno for the “Answerbacks” to strike yet again.
He scored two runs and had two RBIs.

Carroll became the first player in MLB history with at least three hits and two stolen bases in a Game 7, per Stathead.
Corbin Carroll is the 2nd-youngest player in MLB history with 3 hits and 2 steals in a playoff game.

The opening single for Carroll that he scored on was via a Christian Walker fielder’s choice.

Add on the two runs scored to Carroll’s stat line and those plus the three hits and two steals make him the first player since 2009 to do that in a postseason game, per Stathead. It’s only the 11th time ever.
To say the 23-year-old was due would be an understatement.
After starring in the regular season and first two rounds of the postseason, Carroll through six games of the NLCS was 3-for-23 with a walk and hit by pitch. Meaning, yes, he doubled his hit total in Game 7.
