The coronavirus pandemic has prompted emergency aid of all kinds, and the Arizona Diamondbacks are taking another step in that effort.

The D-backs, American Red Cross and Budweiser have partnered to hold a blood drive at Chase Field from April 28 to 30, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Those who wish to participate must make an appointment online in advance, as walk-ins won’t be accepted. Schedule an appointment time here and use the keyword ONETEAM in the search bar.

“We are excited to partner with the Red Cross and Budweiser to help provide a safe space for our fans to donate blood at such a crucial time,” D-backs president and CEO Derrick Hall said in a press release. “Blood donations are essential, especially in times like this, and we are proud to be able to offer a space that allows the Red Cross to be able to continue to collect donations and take the necessary social distancing precautions.

“We thank our fans and partners for stepping up to the plate and helping those who need it most in our community.”

Staff and donors will have their temperature checked before going into the blood drive. Hand sanitizer, social distancing measures, routine disinfecting practices and other precautions will all be deployed for the event.

According to a statement from the D-backs, almost 14,000 Red Cross blood drives had been canceled nationwide as of April 5 because of the coronavirus. That has resulted in 400,000 fewer blood donations than otherwise.

Budweiser made a $5 million donation to the Red Cross and have helped to identify sites where temporary blood drives could be held. In addition to Chase Field, a search query on the Red Cross website shows blood drives happening at Busch Stadium, Wrigley Field, Gillette Stadium and more.
